Confidence is a very commonly used term. The connotation of the word translates differently at a different time and by different people. From voicing an opinion to creating a business empire, the feeling of self-doubt can either make you or break you. This feeling has a lot to do with Self Esteem, what does one think of himself or herself. The value of self is the core of confidence. How do you look at yourself, what do you see in the mirror, how much do you know yourself, what are your limits to physical and mental strain, all these are the core components of Self Esteem.

An overdose of Self Esteem may lead to a state of euphoria or a sense of superiority which may lead to conflicts in relationships with peer and family. A person who thinks he is beyond others can never be able to get along with people well and will find himself alone most often. On the other hand, the lack of Self- Esteem leads to depression and suicide. The day to day circumstances, relationships, professional goals and the failures that one goes through, puts this Self Esteem to test most often. Competition and peer pressure encourage or discourage one’s confidence and thereby helps one’s Self Esteem to lift up or break down. Not being able to speak in public, not being able to connect to people, not having too many good friends or being alone most times are the few results of either an inflated Self Esteem or the lack of it.
